Getting Ahead: Networking and Negotiating

A couple of great blog posts today highlighted the value of negotiating salaries.  Women in particular are not negotiators which is a contributing factor to why we make less than men.

Over at Get Rich Slowly, staff writer April Dykman shares her story of her negotiation attempts which sound pretty familiar!  She interviews Ramit Sethi of I Will Teach You to Be Rich on how to negotiate and offers some great tips on how to get started.

Ramit turns up over at Wise Bread today too discussing the importance of networking and negotiating.  Again, some great strategies for  creating opportunity to negotiate!

I’d love to hear from you about your experiences with Salary Negotiation?  Does it make you uncomfortable?  Have you been successful?  As Ramit points out, asking for $5,000 can mean millions over the years of employment!
